Houseplants for growing in winter

Houseplants for growing indoors in winter months

Houseplants for growing indoors in winter in cold states areas where summer is really short. I want to share what tropical houseplants did really well for me in Zone 6D Buffalo, New York Area.

Everyone loves gardening and as soon September hit you know what is coming, some of your favorite houseplants begin to turn yellow and dropping leaves begin.

I have a 9x12x8 room that I use for my winter growing season inside my home. The room has six large windows facing South West of the house which is perfect.

Now in Buffalo we don’t get many sunny days so I have to add lights I have 3 large LED lights and they work perfectly for my plants.

Here is the list of my Tropical houseplant residents,

Mandarin Oranges

Kumquat Oranges

Meyer Lemons

Pink Guava

Avocado Americana

Barbados Cherry (Acerola)

Banana Tree

Calamondin Oranges

Aji Dulce (Large)

Here is the list of Veggies and Fruit

Cherry Tomatoes

Corn

Cucumber

Bush Tomatoes

Bell Pepper

Jalapeno Sweet Pepper

Some of these are grown through Hydroponics methods, when growing hydroponics the tomatoes are not that sweet compared to the soil, but they are still good for salad or cooking.
