Growing plants in Puerto Rico Garden

Many indoor tropical plants in Puerto Rico do not require special care

As I remember in the old’s days I remember next door the rooster singing around 4:30 AM.

This indicates to us that is time to get up and head to the farm or like others go to work on our regular jobs.

My grandmother used to own a tobacco farm and some plantain fields.

I enjoy watching my family how they get up in the morning and everyone hop in the van or their horse and head to the tobacco farm and processing barn.

That Great Smell

As in those days were no safety protocols on climbing 4 stories high to tight the tabaco leaves to start the process of drying.

I never in my life smoke but the aroma of the tobacco was great and I love being in there just to smell.

The best thing that amazes me was my cousins going up with no shoes for better gripping on the wood. With a bundle of Tabaco on their shoulder too tight in order so they will know which one will come down after it dries out. Tabaco is one of my favorite plants that grow in Puerto Rico.

In The Cities of the island of Puerto Rico

Indoors growing plants in Puerto Rico is the way too different as from the country. The weather in the city is too humid and many plants don’t thrive in this weather.

One of my favorites is the coconut plant (palm tree), we have 3 in front of my grandmother’s home in San Juan, As the Puerto Rican Parrot loves nesting on them and they do make a lot of noise.

So have fun enjoy your garden.
